Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has inaugurated his key administrative aides, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro, and the Chief of Staff, Mr. Oyeniyi Adebayo, charging them to raise the bar of governance in his second term.
The brief inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti.
Speaking at the event, Governor Oyebanji said the era of learning on the job was over, adding that his administration would demand excellent performance in its second term.
He noted that the reappointment of the two officers was based on their proven loyalty, experience and outstanding performance in the first term, but warned that much more would be expected of them now.
According to the Governor, unlike commissioners and advisers who may be nominated by stakeholders, the offices of SSG and Chief of Staff are personal to the Governor as they serve as his closest aides.
He urged them to avoid complacency and to remain humble, diligent and people-focused in the discharge of their duties.
Oyebanji reminded the appointees that the people of Ekiti State are their employers, having given the administration a fresh mandate, and therefore deserve to be treated with courtesy and compassion.
He also disclosed that the duo would have to work extra hard in the coming weeks to bridge administrative gaps pending the appointment of new commissioners and members of the cabinet.
In her vote of thanks, Prof. Adubiaro, who spoke on behalf of herself and the Chief of Staff, appreciated the Governor for retaining confidence in them.
She described Governor Oyebanji as a compassionate and humble leader whose performance in the first term had set a solid foundation for continuity, and promised that they would justify the trust reposed in them with renewed dedication.
