There is currently blackout in Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti States following the shutdown of facilities of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, by electricity workers.
The workers, under the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, shut down operations over emoluments and welfare packages.
At the Benin headquarters of the company, NUEE officials prevented staff from gaining access into the premises and shut down vital operational facilities, a development that has thrown the four states into darkness since the early hours of Monday.
Also at the Ado-Ekiti office of the company,NUEE officials were seen hanging around the office while branches of leaves were hung on the gates which were all locked up.
Residents have been counting their losses due to the power outage as this has affected business activities in Ado-Ekiti and it’s environment.
Details later as we keep monitoring the development.
