The Ekiti State Environmental Sanitation Task Force has arrested and arraigned Mrs. Ruth Ayeni for illegally dumping refuse into a canal in the Moferere area of Ado-Ekiti.
She was apprehended during an early morning enforcement operation and later pleaded guilty in court.
The court sentenced her to 3 months’ imprisonment or a ₦5,000 fine under the Ekiti State Environmental Health and Sanitation Law (2020).
The task force warned residents against dumping waste in drainages and canals, stressing that such actions worsen flooding, especially during the rainy season.
They also urged the public to make proper use of government-provided waste bins and called for continued cooperation to keep Ado-Ekiti clean and safe.
