The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved over ₦17.2 billion for critical road, electricity, and water projects across the state, alongside key administrative decisions, during its fifth meeting of 2026 held on Monday, 13th July at the New Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti.

The Council approved ₦14.31 billion for two major road projects: the reconstruction of the 18.83km Ilawe–Erijiyan–Ikogosi Road at ₦12.58 billion and the construction of the 2.24km Spotless–Assembly of God Road in Ado-Ekiti at ₦1.73 billion. Both projects are expected to boost connectivity, tourism access, and economic activity, with completion timelines of 16 and 12 months respectively. An additional ₦2.063 billion was approved to upgrade four Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) roads by increasing asphalt thickness from 30mm to 40mm, following traffic assessments that showed higher vehicle volumes than initially projected.

On power infrastructure, the Council earmarked ₦381.65 million for solar-powered streetlights at three locations in Ado-Ekiti, including Awedele Community, GRA 3rd Extension, and Igirigiri Junction to the new Ado-Ekiti LG Headquarters. Another ₦337.66 million was approved for four electricity projects, including transformer upgrades at Oke-Oniyo Community and EKSUTH, electricity extension to Command Academy, Ikogosi-Ekiti, and relocation of a section of the Ado–Ilawe 33KV network to reduce faults. All power projects will be executed by the Ekiti State Electricity Board through Direct Labour within three months.

Other approvals include ₦74.96 million for the Ekiti Water and Sanitation Regulatory Data Management System (EK-WASREDAMS) under the World Bank-supported SURWASH Programme, and the adoption of the 2025 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan (BERAP) Progress Report to qualify for SABER Programme performance-based financing. The Council also approved the appointment of Prince Fagbayi Feyisayo Ige as the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti following due traditional processes, and congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his re-election, noting he is the first sitting governor in Ekiti history to secure a second term in office.
