Pupils of Community Primary School, Asa Olokuta, Ikogosi EKiti Appeal for Help After Classroom Collapse
Students and teachers of Community Primary School, Asa Olokuta, Ikogosi Ekiti have called on Ekiti State Government to come to their aid following the destruction of a block of classrooms by a fallen palm tree.
The incident has left several pupils without a proper learning space and forced the school to improvise.
According to the school authorities, the palm tree was uprooted during a heavy downpour and crashed onto one of the classroom blocks.
The impact tore off the roof, cracked the walls, and destroyed desks, chairs, and teaching materials inside but no pupil was hurt because the incident occurred outside school hours.
Since the collapse, teachers said learning has become difficult. Pupils from the affected block have been squeezed into the remaining classrooms.
Two of the pupils, Daniel Ayoola and Bola Dauda noted that the school serves many children from Asa Olokuta and neighboring communities, saying the development is affecting academic performance.
Parents also expressed concern, saying they fear the situation will worsen when the rains intensify. They said the community cannot afford to rebuild the structure on its own.
