Vice President Kashim Shettima will be in Ekiti State on Tuesday, June 9, for a one-day working visit during which he will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone and commission major infrastructure projects in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode.
According to the statement, the Vice President, who will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the visit, will be received by Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other top government officials at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado-Ekiti.
Among the activities lined up for the visit is the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone (EKZ), a project designed to promote innovation, technology, and economic development in the state.
Shettima is also expected to commission the newly constructed zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) located along Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti.
The Vice President will further inaugurate the newly completed 1.2-kilometre Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Flyover at Okeyinmi, Ado-Ekiti, one of the flagship projects of the Biodun Oyebanji administration.
The statement noted that Tuesday’s visit would be Shettima’s second official visit to Ekiti State. It recalled that he had earlier visited the state in May 2024, where he inaugurated the Omisanjana–Deeper Life–Ajebandele Road and an MSME Clinic, among other projects.
Oyebode quoted Governor Oyebanji as saying that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a successful and memorable visit for the Vice President.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strategic collaboration with the Federal Government, other sub-national governments, development partners, relevant institutions, and the private sector as part of efforts to drive sustainable development in the state.
