Nigeria lost former Super Eagles player and Coach, Stephen Keshi to the cold hands of death on June 7, 2016, making this year the 10th anniversary of his death.

Subsequently, he went on to play for the likes of NNB of Benin City, Stade d’Abidjan, Africa Sports of Cote D’Ivoire, Lokeren, Anderlecht and RWD Monleebek, all of Belgium, as well as a few other clubs.
After his retirement, he went into Coaching, after which he was appointed as Coach of Togo.
Stephen Keshi went ahead to set a record as the first Coach to lead Togo to qualify for the World Cup, even though later, he stepped down from the position and thus, was not the Coach of Togo at the mundial.
He also handled Mali and later Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The late Keshi won the AFCON in 1994 as Captain of the Super Eagles and then came back in 2013 to lead the team to another title.
In June 2016, Keshi suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 54.
