CRIME: Expectant Mother gives birth in Kidnapper’s camp, regains freedom after paying #15m

An expectant Mother, Ramatu Yunusa-Gusau who was nine months pregnant when she was abducted two weeks ago in Zamfara State has given birth to a baby girl .

Ramatu Yunusa- Gusau who was delivered of the baby girl in her captors’ camp has however been set free after allegedly collecting N15 million ransom.

She was wife of the chairman of the Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE, Alhaji Sanusi Gusau.

A family member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said both the mother and the newborn baby were currently receiving medical treatment in one of the hospitals in Gusau town.

He maitained that the sum of N10 million was initially paid for ransom but when the wife was delivered of a baby girl, the bandits said they needed additional amount of money for the baby.

“We paid to the bandits the sum of N10m ransom as they demanded, but as they were about to release her, she was delivered of a baby girl.

“They told us that we must also pay additional amount for the newborn baby.

“So, after series of difficult negotiations, the bandits agreed to collect another sum of N5m as ransom for the baby.

The victim, who is nine months pregnant, was said to have been abducted from her husband’s house in Damba Gusau early hours of Tuesday June 28, 2022.

Husband of the Woman, Gusau, who confirmed the abduction to reporters, said bandits broke into his house around one o’clock in the morning on Tuesday and abducted his pregnant wife.

According to him, he was awake when the bandits jumped over the fence intending to abduct him but he suddenly hid where they could not see him.

He added that after searching for him in the house without success, the bandits took his wife, who is due to give birth any moment from now as her due date is this week.
