Peasant Farmer Kidnapped in Ekiti

A peasant farmer, Mr. Adewumi Babatunde has been kidnapped on his way from farm in Omu-Ekiti, Oye Local government.

Mr. Babatunde was abducted yesterday afternoon between Omu and Ayede-Ekiti.

Confirming the incident with Progress FM on telephone call, wife of the victim, Mrs. Bosede Babatunde said the kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded for three million naira ransom.

Also, the Owajumu of Omu-Ekiti, Oba Adeyeye Ogundeyi who lamented incessant kidnapping of indigenes especially farmers in the area, urged government to provide watertight security in Omu-Ijelu-Ayede Road.

When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu said he had not been briefed on the matter and promised to find out.
