EKSG closes two Roads for Construction Works

The Ekiti State Government has announced a temporary closure of sections of two rural roads to allow for construction works under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

The closures are scheduled to take effect from Monday, March 9, 2026 and will last for several weeks depending on the section of the road.

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, listed the affected routes as the Epe–Iropora section of the Ijero–Epe–Araromi–Iropora Road and the Ita Eku–Igirigiri section of the Enu Odi–Ita Eku–Igirigiri Road.

According to him, the Epe to Iropora stretch will be closed for four weeks while the Ita Eku to Igirigiri section will remain shut for six weeks to enable contractors carry out critical construction work aimed at improving rural connectivity.

He advised motorists and other road users to use alternative routes during the period of the closure, adding that commuters travelling through the Ita Eku–Igirigiri corridor have been specifically directed to use the Lobinto Junction–Itamo–Omi Oloko Road as an alternative route.

The Commissioner assured that diversion signs would be installed along the affected corridors to guide road users and reduce disruption.

He also urged residents and commuters to plan their journeys ahead of time to minimise inconvenience during the construction period.

Olatunbosun, who said road works form part of efforts to upgrade rural infrastructure and improve access to agricultural markets across the state, expressed regret over the temporary disruption but noted that, when completed, the project would enhance transportation and economic activities in the affected areas.
