Traditional Ruler cautions Nigerians against gender violence

The Oniye of Iye Ekiti, Oba Agboola Adeleye has called on Nigerians to shun every habit that could lead to Gender Based Violence , GBV against girl-child and women in the Society.

The Traditional Ruler made the call during a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders on Stemming the Tide Against GBV at Iye-Ekiti in Ilejemeje Local Government area of Ekiti State.

He appealed to husbands to always be patient with their wives, adding that women should also be submissive to avoid violence.

Oba Agboola who frowned at the alarming rates of defilement and rape in the society said that he would not take with levity anyone caught in such act.

Earlier, the Wife of Ekiti Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi restated her commitment in fighting for girl-child and women in the state, saying she would not relent in ensuring that there was zero tolerance to gender based violence in the state.

She called on all Stakeholders to join hands with her to end the menace of Gender Based Violence in the state.

Also, the Chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government, Mr Akinola Oladunjoye assured the wife of the governor of his commitment to the goals and aspirations of ending all forms of violence against humanity.
