President Bola Tinubu has warned his appointees to shape up or ship out as Federal Government settles down to the business of implementing this year’s budget.
Signing the budget at the State House in Abuja after his arrival from Lagos, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the implementation would be vigorously pursued and efficiently monitored.
Speaking further, President Tinubu said all Ministries, Departments and Agencies have been warned on the need to be up and doing, even as the Federal Government also made sure to separate Economic Planning from Finance.
According to the Nigerian Leader, all MDAs are to start providing monthly Budget Performance Reports to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, while the ministry is expected to verify the reports.
The President said the aim of this step is to promote efficiency, dedication and accountability.
President Tinubu who said a budget is as good as its implementation, directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, to always hold regular reviews with the Economic Management Team while he, (Mr President) will chair periodic Economy Coordinating Council.
He commended the National Assembly for its effort in ensuring timely passage of the bill.
