Supreme Court Upholds Elections of Kano, Zamfara, Bauchi Governors

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Dauda Lawal as the duly elected Governor of Zamfara State.

Delivering the lead judgement, Justice Emmanuel Agim described the judgement of the Appeal Court, which earlier removed Lawal, as perverse.

In Bauchi, the Supreme Court has confirmed the electoral victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the PDP.

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, who read the lead judgement, said the appellants, the APC and its candidate, Aboubakar Baba, failed to prove their case.

Perhaps in the most talked about Governorship tussle, the Supreme Court has affirmed the Electoral victory of Kano State Governor, Yusuf Abba.

The Governor had his Election earlier overturned by both the Tribunal and Appeal Court, but he approached the Apex court for succour, which he has now got.

Reading the lead judgement, Justice John Okoro ordered that all the ballot papers deducted from Abba’s total figure should be restored.

Justice Okoro based the decision on the presence of INEC logo and Coat of Arms on the ballot papers.
