NLC gives recipe to avert looming Industrial Crisis

The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has said the only thing that could stop the planned nationwide strike was if the Federal Government should honour the agreement it had with Organised Labour.

This was contained in the latest letter sent to the government in which the NLC dismissed claims by Federal Government that it had fulfilled 80% of the October 2, 2023 agreement it had with the Labour body.

In the letter addressed to the Minister of Labour and Employment, the NLC asked Government to come out clear on any part of the agreement it has fully fulfilled, warning that propaganda and disinformation were dangerous.

The labour body also advised government to, between now and March 13, 2024 fresh deadline, fast-track the process of implementation of the agreement and avoid industrial action.

15 points were outlined in the October 2023 agreement, but the labour body said most of them have not been fully met while the few being addressed have been implemented in breach.
