Leave Us Where We Are, Market Women Cry Out in Ekiti

Some market women in Ado Ekiti on Thursday took to the street to protest their relocation from Okesa market by government.

The relocation according to the commissioner for Trade and Industry
Aare Muyiwa Olumilua was to sanitize the markets in the state and guide against activities that could lead to any injury such as trading on the highways.

While some of the women have started complying with the directive, these set of women barricaded the road to protest the order on the account that it was not suitable for them.

Also reacting to the issue, the Chairman Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency, Mr Sunday Ibitoye said government was only trying to protect the traders against possible disaster.

He appealed to the traders to bear with government and relocate to various market structures provided by government.
