EKSU Faculty of Education Sets Pace With Capacity Building Workshop

The Faculty of Education, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has proven to be a pacesetter by hosting a thought provoking one day capacity building workshop for its academic staff.

The workshop, with the theme ADVANCED RESEARCH DESIGNS, METHODS OF WRITING PROPOSALS TO ATTRACT GRANTS AND RULES OF ENGAGEMENT FOR ACADEMIC STAFF was well attended by the academic staff of the Faculty.

In his welcome address, the Acting Dean of the Faculty, Professor Remi Famiwole explained that capacity building has to do with various strategies or actions that an institution takes to improve staff capability to perform better and become successful in their chosen career. He added that human capacity building is a process by which an organization develops its staff’s ability both individually and collectively to achieve the institution’s objectives.

Professor Famiwole said the workshop was in line with the Faculty’s mission statement for 2020/2022 “to employ holistic synergy to enhance human capacity development of staff for more productivity”.

The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun, who declared the workshop open, commended the effort of the Dean of the Faculty who, he remarked, has “changed the narrative of the Faculty within the space of months”. He expressed the belief that the workshop would be beneficial and as such, recommended it for all the academic staff of the University.

The Vice Chancellor also urged all the participants to take their time to participate actively and to regard the workshop as an examination that should be passed.

Various topics were selected for discussion such as “Research Designs, Methods, Application of Statistical tools and Multidisciplinary Approach to Research” delivered by Professor Emmanuel Kolawole, “Procedure Involved in Winning TETFUND Research Based Grants and other on-shore/off Shore Grants” delivered by Professor O. Adegbesan, “Methods of Accessing Scopus (Q1 & Q2) Journals for Publication” delivered by Professor Kehinde Oluwadiya and “University Administration, Rules of Engagement and Conduct of Academic Staff” delivered by the University Registrar, Mr Ife Oluwole.
