Ekiti INEC trains over ten thousand Ad-hoc staff for elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ekiti State says, over ten thousand ad-hoc staff and Corps members have been trained in readiness for the 2023 general election.

INEC Head of Voter’s Education and Publicity, Mr Temitope Akanmu who made this known to Newsmen in Ado Ekiti, said the Commission was ready for the polls.

Mr Akanmu said the trained ad-hoc staff comprised, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Supervisory Presiding Officers and Registration Areas Technicians.

According to him, the electoral body would deploy a minimum of two thousand, four hundred and forty five Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BIVAS in the polling units across the state.

The INEC Head of Voter Education and Publicity announced that the Electoral body had taken delivery of the sensitive materials while the non sensitive ones had also been distributed to the sixteen Council Areas.

Mr Akanmu made it clear that the Commission had carried out aggressive voter Education on the need for the Electorate to participate actively in the exercise and also to be peaceful in their conducts.

The INEC spokesperson added that 789, 318 permanent voter’s cards had been collected out of about one million registered voters in Ekiti, saying that about 200 thousand voter cards had not been collected.

Radio Nigeria also spoke to a cross section of Voters in Ekiti State on their level of readiness to participate in polls.

They however called for adequate security to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.
