The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the release of the five abducted school children of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools including 6their teachers in Emure-Ekiti .

The command in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu llauded the combined efforts of the Police and other security agencies including the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes and hunters as well as the family members and the support from the Federal and State governments.

While sympathising with the family members of the driver who was killed by the abductors, the Command vowed to continue with the operation and investigation until the perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

It disclosed that the rescued victims have been handed over to the State government for proper medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the security agencies, and the people of Ekiti for their support in securing the release of the kidnapped pupils of Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, Emure Ekiti.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Olayinka Oyebode in Ado Ekiti, the Governor congratulated the children and their families, and commended the president for his prompt intervention and directives that facilitated the rescue operation.

He also praised the security agencies for their professionalism and collaboration, and thanked the people of Ekiti, both at home and abroad, for their prayers and solidarity during the ordeal.

Governor Oyebanji urged the people of the state to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their communities to the authorities as he again vowed to eradicate crime and criminality from the state.

The pupils and their teachers, who were abducted by unknown gunmen on Monday, January 29, were freed in the early hours of Sunday, while the driver of the school bus was killed by the kidnappers.

In another development,
Ekiti State governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has visited the abducted pupils and staff of the private school in Emure Ekiti who were brought to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital Ado Ekiti for medical attention after their release. 

Mr Oyebanji, accompanied by the Commissioner for Health and Human Resources, Oyebanji Filani, expressed satisfaction over the swift response of medical personnel who conveyed the rescued victims from Emure down to Ado Ekiti for proper medical treatment. 

The Governor also commended the efforts of security agents in the state for working tirelessly since the pupils were kidnapped. 

He, however, commended the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the rescue of the pupils.

The governor assured that his administration would not rest on its oars in ensuring that criminal elements are flushed out of the state. .

The Ekiti state helmsman condoled with the families of the late school bus driver, Mr. Taye Rasaki, who was gruesomely killed by the kidnappers.
