2023 ELECTION: Police Releases Toll Line on Women Protection

The FCT commissioner of police, Mr. Sunday Babaji has released a toll free line for the protection of women ahead of the the 2023 general election.

The commissioner who was represented by Chief Superintendent of police Akappo Akinwale gave the number at an ongoing consultative dialogue on the election organised by the women’s situation room Nigeria led by professor joy Onyesoh.

He encouraged women to call the number 07031288054 anywhere they were suffering election related violence.

The national coordinator of the women’s situation room Nigeria, professor joy Onyesoh said the project to ensure the protection of women during the 2023 polls is being piloted in eleven states including Anambra, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Enugu, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kaduna, kwara, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory.

The United Nations programme specialist on women issues, Mr. Desmond Osemehenjie expressed optimism that with the initiative more women would emerge through the 2023 electoral process.
