LAGOS
The Supreme Court has declared Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the duly elected Governor of Lagos State.
Reading the lead judgement, Justice Garba Lawal affirmed the governor’s Electoral victory by dismissing the appeals filed by the Labour Party and its candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, as well as the PDP and its candidate, Abdulaziz Adediran.
CROSS RIVER
Bassey Otu of the APC has been affirmed as the Governor of Cross River State.
Reading the lead judgement, Justice Helen Ogunwumiju held that the appellants, the PDP and its candidate, Professor Sandy Onor failed to prove their case.
ABIA
Also, the Apex Court in Nigeria has dismissed the appeal of the PDP and its candidate in Abia State, Okechukwu Ahiwe against Governor Alex Otti of Labour Party.
Justice Uwani Abba-Aji held that the PDP and its candidate failed to prove that Governor Otti was not qualified to contest the Election.
Justice Abba-Aji then proceeded to dismiss the case.
PLATEAU
Similarly, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reclaimed his mandate as the Supreme Court affirmed his Electoral victory.
The Plateau State APC and its candidate had taken the matter to Tribunal which they lost but proceeded to Appeal Court where they won.
However, Justice Emmanuel Agim held that Mutfwang was qualified to contest the Election and subsequently set aside judgement of the Appeal Court which had removed the governor.
EBONYI
The Governorship tussle in Ebonyi State has been settled as the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by the PDP and its candidate, Chukwuma Ifeanyi because it lacked merit.
Reading the lead judgement, Justice Tijjani Abubakar held that the PDP failed to prove its case and he subsequently affirmed the election of Governor Francis Nwifuru.
