NLC Suspends Nationwide Protest

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has suspended its nationwide protests, in held in different states of the federation yesterday.

The Labour, in a communiqué at the end of its National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja, said the objectives of the protest were achieved on the first day of the demonstration.

According to the communique, the union has given federal government another ultimatum which will now expire on the 13th day of March.

The communique maintains that Government is expected to implement all the earlier agreements signed with the organised labour in October last year and other demands presented to the National Assembly during the first day of the nationwide protest.

During the protest, NLC president, Mr. Joe Ajaero told newsmen that the peaceful demonstration was about hunger, high cost of living caused by economic hardships and not just a clamour for a review of the minimum wage.
