Hell was let loose at Efon Aalaye where thugs ambushed the entourage of Socal Democratic Party candidate in Ekiti State, fired gun shots sporadically while people took cover to protect their dear lives.
Reacting to the development, the SDP flagbearer, Chief Segun Oni told newsmen in Efon shortly after escaping that opposition parties are allegedly behind the dastardly act.
Few people were said to have been injured but no life was lost.
It took hours before normalcy could return to the community with the effort of security agents
Earlier, the social Democratic party candidate had visited Ijero, Ekiti West Local governments where he solicited their support.
He gave assurance that fortune would smile on the people if elected.
Defectors into the party at the two local governments have earlier told the party standard bearer not to entrust political positions to non-indigenes of the state after wining the forthcoming governorship poll.
The tour of the local governments was part of the SDP familiarization visits to all local governments in preparation for June 18 governorship election.
