Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has charged Nigerians to pay more attention to their health and cooperate with health care givers at every point of medical treatment.
Dr Oyebanji gave the charge at the disbursement of twenty eight million naira health grants, held at Oba Adejuyigbe General Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
The First Lady enjoined the people to always comply with medical directives within health care providers’ proscriptions towards ensuring sound health.
The Governor’s Wife reiterated the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s led administration to its camping promises centred on prioritizing the heath needs of all and sundry.
According to the Governor’s wife, the State government recognizes such burden that can be occasioned by ill health, especially in this time that we live in hence, the financial assistance for medical care entails the
setting aside of a pool of funds yearly, to support such individuals and enable them to get access to quality care in a non-discriminatory manner.
She noted that the random selection of beneficiaries were categorized into people currently receiving treatment within Public health facilities in the state, persons who require specific treatments that are available within the State but are yet to receive them and those who require treatment outside the State.
Dr Oyebanji thereafter notified the people of about her upcoming pet project in the state named Widows and Orphans Hope, WAOH, which focused on making life easier for vulnerable groups through institutionalisation of empowerment programmes, vocational training, educational endowment among other support packages.
In a remark, the commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani explained that one of the goals of the ministry was to ensure that the people enjoyed government interventions through cash donations to support their medical bills.
According to the commissioner, the tranche of the cash donations meant for about forty beneficiaries may not be able to cater absolutely for all the required medical attentions, but it will go a long way to reduce their medical expenses.
While appreciating the initiative, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Bamidele Adaramola the programme was an evidence that the present administration was passionate about citizens’ health.
The occasion attracted the presence of the chairman Ekiti Traditional Council of Obas, Oba Gabriel Adejuwon, Chairman house committee on health and HIV Aids, Hon. Teju Okuyiga, Permanent Secretaries, Political appointees, among others.
