ASUU STRIKE: Ekiti Labour Unions warm up for Mass protest

All affiliate unions with the Nigeria labour congress have agreed to participate in the next week Tuesday mass protest organized by NLC in solidarity with university lecturers and to salvage the education sector in the country.

They agreed on the protest during a meeting held at the labour house in Ado Ekiti where the labour leaders deliberated on how to carry out the rally.

Two of them, JNC Chairman, Mr kayode Fatomiluyi and NULGE president, Mr Oluseyi Olatunde noted that the protest became imperative, saying they have directed all their members to come out enmass to rescue the future of the younger generation.

They explained that students of Nigeria universities have over stayed at home, hence the need for government to acede to the demands of the lecturers by fulfilling agreement made with them.

Also, EKSU Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, Mr Temidayo Aguda and the Institution’s vice Chairman of ASUU, Mr Ayodeji Salami appreciated NLC for taking the bold step to join academic staff to salvage university education from total Collapse.

Earlier, the NLC Chairman in Ekiti State, Mr kolapo Olatunde said there was no going back on the proposed protest, saying that it was in line with the constitution.

Mr Olatunde called on all members of affiliate unions to converge on Fajuyi Park, Ado Ekiti for the rally by eight I clock in the morning on Tuesday next week.
