This is part of resolutions reached during a congress of the union held within the school premises.
The decision of the academic staff is coming barely a month after all the in-house unions of the university resumed from strike owing to similar agitations.
Speaking with journalists, chairman of ASUU Dr Kayode Arogundade said the decision to stay off duty was in line with the standing order of the Union to prevent further accumulation of salary arrears.
Other resolutions reached by the union are that the administration should provide justification for an increment in monthly subvention (as requested by the Visitor). to enhance the Union’s agitation for an increase in monthly subvention.
“Since negotiation between Administration and the Union on illegal mass disengagement of our members has broken down, Congress mandated the Union Executive to hand over all documents relevant to the illegal disengagement of our members in December, 2019 (the draft Devtage report that was hurriedly implemented by Council, University Law and condition of service) to a Professional for legal advice on the next line of action.
“Our resolve to seek permission from the National for an industrial action to press home our demands as contained in the Congress resolution of 27th April, 2021 subsists.
“The Union should impress it on Administration and Council to as a matter of urgency conclude works on:
i. The ICT/Portal fraud investigation
ii. The Finance Audit report as submitted by PRICEWATERHOUSE COOPERS; which was received in 2019.
Failure to do justice to these reports, Congress will reconvene to take a definite decision on the next line of action.
