33rd Olympic Games end as Nigeria fails to win any medal.

The 33rd Olympic Games has ended in Paris, France with Nigeria failing to win a medal of any colour.

Team Nigeria to the Olympics, which included 88 athletes, took part in 12 sports.

They were Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Football, Taekwondo, Table-Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Swimming.

Despite everything and a reported intervention fund of 12 billion Naira from Federal Government, Team Nigeria failed to return any medal.

Apart from Athletics, no Nigerian athlete or team reached the final in any of the other eleven sports.

In Athletics, the few Nigerians who go to the finals of their various events, failed when it mattered most.

The Olympic Games began on July 24th but the Opening Ceremony took place on 26th, with about 11,000 athletes from 206 countries taking part in 32 sports.

Eighteen days later, the Closing Ceremony took place at the State de France, with cultural display, musical performance by international stars and parade of athletes.

Also, there were medal presentation to Guests, the Extinguishing of the Olympic Flame, proclamation of the end of the games and handing over of the Olympic Flag to the Mayor of Los Angeles, USA, host of the next edition in 2028.

A total of 91 countries, including 12 from Africa, appeared on the medals table.

The United States topped the medals table with a total of 126 medals.
