The leader of a group “Ilana Omo Oodua” worldwide, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye has affirmed that the fight for the Yoruba nation is not negotiable.
According to him, great achievements have so far been recorded in the quest for creation of Yoruba nation and nothing can stop it.
Addressing members of “Ilana Omo Oodua” Ekiti state chapter at a meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, Professor Akintoye told the gathering that efforts were being intensified towards the success of the move, saying many Yoruba indigenes within and outside the country have been mobilized to ensure the success of the creation of Yoruba Nation.
“I want to tell you that the constitution, flag, coat of arms and other necessary things required of a sovereign Nation are currently being designed”.
He said that the United Nations had been intimated on the request of the people of Yoruba land that they were no more interested to be part of the present Nigeria.
The Emeritus Professor urged those present at the meeting to educate others on the need to support the fight for Oduduwa republic.
According to him, “referendum will happen in Nigeria, so Yoruba people should be ready to vote in support of the establishment of Oodua Republic during the referendum”.
This he said would enable the United Nations to see the seriousness and eagerness of the people to get their independence.
“Yoruba has all it takes to achieve the aim of becoming a Nation”.
Professor Akintoye noted that the the fight for the independence of Yoruba was devoid of maiming and killing.
He said he was concerned about the future of Yoruba land because the race had been greatly marginalised, most especially the youths, hence his decision to spearhead the creation of Yoruba Nation.
“The interest and security of the Southerners are no longer guaranteed under the present Nigeria, this is a pointer to the fact that we must go our separate ways” Akintoye said.
In an interview, the National Chairman of “Ilana Omo Oodua” Professor Wale Adeniran enjoined citizens of Yoruba land to remain firm and resolute while assuring them that the region would soon have a sovereign country.
Professor Adeniran also called on them to start preaching the gospel to others in their domains on the need for them to join hands in achieving the dream.
On his part the Coordinator of “Ilana Omo Oodua” in Ekiti state, Pastor Praise Ayodele promised to continue to mobilise people to join the movement for emancipation of Yoruba race.
Pastor Praise urged those who does not see anything good in the fight for the creation of Oduduwa republic to have a rethink, adding that there were many benefits derivable from the creation of Oduduwa nation.
