The Ekiti state commissioner for infrastructures and public utilities, Engineer Bamidele Faparusi has disclosed that money meant for compensating residents of the state whose properties were tampered with or disturbed during the laying of pipes in the state was intact.
Engineer Faparusi stated this while featuring on a program Awe Mo ri o sponsored by Wadata Media and Advocacy center with support from MacArthur Foundation on Progress Fm, Ado-Ekiti.
The residents had accused the Ministry of embezzling the compensation meant for them and also non repairs of the damaged portion of their properties as promised them by the ministry when the water project started.
Engineer Faparusi who did not disclose the exact amount meant to compensate residents explained that many residents that had registered with the water corporation have been duely compensated while those yet to register at the Ekiti state water corporation can still do so to get their compensation.
He further explained that the repairs of the damaged portions of properties would be sorted by the contractors handling the project.
Engineer Faparusi assured the residents that the water project will be completed soon and residents would have access to potable water in the state.
He therefore advised residents to support the state government in her efforts to make residents enjoy good water supply.
He also encouraged people yet to get their compensations to go and register with the state water corporation and get it paid.
