WAFCON 2026 gets new dates.

The Confederation of African Football, CAF has shifted the 2026 Women African Nations Cup.

In the announcement by the African Football ruling body, the competition has been moved from March/April to July/August 2026.

The tournament initially slated to hold from 17 March to 3 April will now start 25 July and end 16 August 2026 in Morocco.

The announcement came from CAF after several teams participating in the tournament have already completed their preparatory matches in different countries within and outside Africa and only just 12 days to kick off.

Defending Champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria only few days ago completed a double-header friendly against Cameroon in Yaounde, with the first match ending in a 1-0 victory for the Lionesses while the second fixture ended 3-1 in favour of Nigeria.

This year’s WAFCON will also serve as qualifiers for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the four semi finalists booking their tickets to Brazil 2027.
