UPDATE: Governor Fayemi Promises to Rebuild Damaged Police Stations in Ikere.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has called on security personnel to continue to show greater commitment to effective policing to rid the state of crimes.

The Governor also called on officers who lost personal properties,harassed, and molested before or during the endsars protest to file their petition before the judicial panel for justice and compensation.

Dr Fayemi who stated these while addressing Police Officers during a visit to the Police Headquarters in Ado Ekiti urged the personnel not to withdrawn their services as being speculated but to ensure dedication to duties..

He noted that the judicial Panel of Inquiry set up to investigate alleged violation of human rights was not aimed at witch hunting police officers and other security personnel but to ascertain the facts of victims of police brutality.

Dr Fayemi commended the officers in the State Police Command for exercising restraint and professionalism in the face of attacks on the police formations by hoodlums who hijacked the protest.

He assured the officers that government would assist to put the razed office back to use within the shortest possible time with a promise that more vehicles would be provided to enhance their responses to public safety.

The Governor also promised to put in place a committee of both government representatives and Non Governmental Organizations to constantly engage police officers on welfarism issues.

Earlier the State commissioner of Police, Mr Babatunde Mobayo told the Governor that although no police officer was killed during the protest but two police stations and one area command all at Ikere were razed by the hoodlums.

He however commended the Governor for his disposition and quick intervention during the endsars protest in the state and promised the command readiness to rid Ekiti of criminals.
