U-17 WORLD CUP:Two African Teams Clash in Q-Finals

Two African teams, Mali and Morocco are to face-off in one of the quarter-final matches at the on-going FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

To reach this stage, Mali put five past former champion, Mexico, in the Round of 16 while Morocco relied on the lottery of penalty shoot-out to eliminate Iran 4-1, after both teams had played 1-1 in regulation time.

The Malians, who are one of the highest scoring sides in the competition so far with 13 goals in 4 matches, are up against a sleek Moroccan team, who does not give away as much as it can take.

The quarter-final clash is billed for the Manahan Stadium in the city of Surakarta, Indonesia on Saturday, the 25th November, 2023.

Two other African teams to the competition have been eliminated, with African U-17 champion, Senegal losing to France in the Round of 16 while Burkina Faso did not qualify from the group stage.

Meanwhile, in the other quarter final matches, Spain is up against Germany, Brazil will try Argentina for size while France will confront Uzbekistan.

Semi final matches are billed for Tuesday, 28th November, 2023, the 3rd place match on 1st December while the final match will go down on Saturday, the 2nd of December, 2023.
