Supreme Court Affirms Eno as Akwa-Ibom Gov, Reserves Judgement in Ogun

The highest court in Nigeria, the Supreme Court has affirmed the electoral victory of Mr Umo Eno of the People’s Democratic Party, as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

The Apex court on Thursday, 11th January, 2024 dismissed the appeals filed by the All Progressive Congress, the Young Progressive Party and the New Nigerian Progressive Party, each contesting Eno’s eligibility for the election or the conduct of the exercise.

Also same day, the Supreme Court reserved judgement in the appeal filed by the PDP and its candidate in the March 2023 Governorship election in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu against Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC.

After hearing the appeal, the court, led by Justice John Okoro reserved judgement for a day that would be convenient for parties involved.

Adebutu is seeking nullification of the declaration of Abiodun as winner of the election.
