Super Falcons Pick 2024 WAFCON Ticket.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for next year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations billed for Morocco.

In the second leg, final round of qualification held at the Estadio Nacional de Cabo Verde, the Super Falcons came from a goal down to beat Cape Verde by two goals to one.

The Nigerian ladies thus qualified by 7 goals to 1 on aggregate, having won the first leg in Abuja by 5 goals to nil.

A total of twelve countries will take part in the competition and they are Senegal, Mali, Algeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Ghana, Botswana, Tunisia, Zambia, South Africa and host Morocco.

Nigeria won the first two editions of the competition in 1991 and 1995 which were decided through the home and away system.

However, since the tournament format began in 1998, the competition has been held 12 times out of which Nigeria has won 9 times.

Equatorial-Guinea (that failed to qualify for next year’s edition) won in 2008 and 2012 while South Africa won in 2022 and are the defending champion.

There was no competition in 2020 due to Covid-19.

Morocco, host of last year’s edition, will also be the host of next year’s event and will be firm favourites, having reached the final on home soil in 2022 but lost to South Africa.
