….Governor Oyebanji Craves Support For Economic Growth
A Legal Luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun wants political leaders, and Elites in Ekiti State to shun destructive petition and other activities that can affect meaningful development in the state.
Chief Olanipekun gave the advice in Ikere Ekiti while addressing political leaders and beneficiaries of the 26th Edition of his Scholarship Award.
Chief Olanipekun who explained that the numbers of Professors, professionals, Lawyers, Economic tycoon Ekiti State had produced should be for meaningful changes and rapid development in the state.
He lamented the way some individuals picked interest in bring-him-down syndrome and urged that petition should henceforth be channeled towards the political development, economic growth, access roads, business and prosperity of every Ekiti indigenes.
The legal luminary who pointed out that Ikere-Ekiti had produced over ninety professors, challenged Elites in Ekiti to let the level of education in the state transform into the alleviation of poverty among the people.
Chief Olanipekun observed that idea rules the world, hence the need for all and sundry to come up with workable ideas that would place Ekiti on a pedestal of meaningful growth, rather than the politics of bring-him-down syndrome which he said could not help the sate to achieve the desire growth.
He also charged various political parties in the state to shun what he termed “Ekiti politics” but to embrace politics of meaningful growth, economic advancement, job Creation and prosperity.
Chief Olanipekun said “all politicians in Ekiti, especially in Ikere should be more concerned about how they could impart on the on the society and shun Ikere and Ekiti politics which had negative on effect on them”
” I am ready to support the present administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, he is very humble, all my determination Ekiti progress and I am ready to support government in that direction ” said Chief Olanipekun.
Chief Olanipekun however called on the present administration to ensure that Ikogosi warm springs become a world tourist centre for the benefits of the state.
In a remark, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji who said that government alone could not develop Ekiti, craved the support of every individual that have been blessed by God to rise for support and development of the state.
Governor Oyebanji said” though I am not rich like Chief Olanipekun but am going to emulate him by start giving scholarship to native of Ikogosi Ekiti.
“Apart from being a son to Chief Wole Olanipekun , i was also a direct beneficiary of his gesture, he helped my wife to get job in the University of Ibadan” said Governor Oyebanji
Governor Oyebanji maintained that if every leader that had been blessed by God could rise for the support of individuals in the society, there would be peace and stability across the state
The Ekiti State Governor also promised to make a great mark in Ikere Ekiti in terms of meaningful infrastructure and called for the support of sons and daughters of Ikere Ekiti.
In a brief lecture on the occasion, Professor Dele Olowokudejo emphasized the need for parents to prioritize education of their children.
Professor Olowokudejo said that education had it takes to bring about meaningful changes, development, and economic advancement in the society.
The 26th Edition of the Wole Olanipekun Scholarship Scheme and third Edition of WOF Wole Olanipekun Foundation also featured empowerment and Aged/Widow s Support programme.
Out of about five hundred students benefited from the Wole Olanipekun scholarship Awards, two hundred and thirty-six were secondary schools leavers, seventy sat for JAMB, while the remaining beneficiaries were selected from tertiary institutions across the country with about ten of them also enjoyed overseas education.
While presenting the Scholarship Awards to the beneficiaries, the Ekiti State Deputy Governor Chief Monisade Afuye charged them to take advantage of the good gesture of Chief Wole Olanipekun and also give back to the society in future.
The carnival like Event which brought Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi Adu, Chiefs, and other natives of the ancient town both rich and the poor together, witnessed a special prayer for Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN.
