Stakeholders in Ekiti Unite To Proffer Solutions to Insecurity

Ekiti Council of Elders, Traditional Rulers and Political Leaders today converged on Adetiloye hall, Ado Ekiti to profer possible solutions to the increasing rate of kidnapping, killings, helders attacks and other criminal activities in the state.

At the Security meeting, the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Reverend Felix Ajakaye who expressed worry on the rate of killings by the herdsmen, said there was no safe place in the country based on the various security challenges experiencing in different parts of Nigeria.

Bishop Ajakaye said that Stakeholders needed to be united to fight insecurity in every front in order to ensure meaningful growth and stability.

A former Governor in Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni advocated the use of a panic alert system initiated during his administration in the state and called on government to liase with some stakeholders who know the technical ways out in order to build a save haven society.

Chief Segun Oni noted that the system would not only help to reduce crime but also help to nip the security problem on the bud.

The Former Governor observed that government should go beyond solving security problem only when there was problem, but always planned ahead to defeat, thwarth activities of criminal elements even before executing their plans.

He said that updated technological advancement could go a long way to tackle insecurity across Ekiti and beyond.

In his submission, the Chairman Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers and Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi who went back memory lane, said that inability of government to tackle kidnapping was responsible for the thriving of the business and all sorts of crimes in the society.

Oba Alabi however called on Nigerians to desist from spreading fake news on the current security, saying that many were dying of falsehood created on the social media.

On his part, the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi expressed joy that Elders in the state unite to Join hands with government in solving the security issues affecting the state.

Represented by the Deputy Governor Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Governor Fayemi urged the people to always be willing to give useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in the society.

He said that traditional Rulers should always be carried along in solving security issues in their domains.

Governor Fayemi said that his administration was always willing and ready to solve security problem in Ekiti, adding that government had no intention to import or bring Fulani to the state as being claimed in some quarters.

The Governor said that he supported all planned to disloge criminal elements in Ekiti and Southwestern states called on the people to stop spreading falsehood on the security of the state.
