SSANU President says no going back on strike

President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim says the union will only call off the on-going strike when its members receive their unpaid salaries.Mr. Ibrahim who stated this during an interview with newsmen in Abuja said SSANU and NASU had been shortchanged by the government, saying that their salaries were stuck with the Ministry of Finance and the strike would be indefinite. He said the union had scheduled meetings with the concerned Ministers, but the issue was not about meeting but payment of backlog salaries. The Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities NASU and SSANU had declared strike yesterday, the 28th of October, 2024 due to non-payment of four-month salaries.
