By Bisi Ogunleye

An accident has claimed the life of a woman who was trying to cross the road in front of Abattoir, along Iworoko Road in Ado Ekiti.

According to witnesses, the woman, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, was attempting to cross the road to the abattoir when she was hit by the vehicle.

The car, a Volvo S40 saloon car, was reported to be speeding and the vehicle somersaulted after hitting the woman, making it to land on the other uncompleted lane.

The impact was so much that one of the legs of the woman was detached from the body, while the driver, reportedly a civil defence officer, was apparently unaware of his surroundings.

As at the time Radio Nigeria left the scene, men of the Nigeria Police and NSCDC were seen approaching the spot.
