Schools Resumption in Ekiti: Students, Teachers Happy to be Back

Public and Private Primary and Secondary Schools in Ekiti State have resumed for the second term of the 2023/2024 academic session.

Radio Nigeria Progress FM, Ado Ekiti roving reporters visited several schools in the state capital, Ado Ekiti and some schools in adjoining local government areas on the first day of resumption, Monday, the 8th of January, 2024.

All the schools visited opened the first day with prayers and thanksgiving to God for His infinite Mercies throughout 2023 and supplication for 2024.

At Courage Nursery/Primary School, Egbewa, Ado Ekiti, the Assistant Head Teacher, Mrs Oguntonade thanked God for sparing the life of teachers and students to see the new year while at St Fidelis Catholic Nursery/Primary School, Ojido, Ado Ekiti, Assistant Head Teacher, Mrs C.O. Babalola thanked God for bringing everyone back safely after Yuletide.

A teacher at Mater Christi Nursery and Primary School, Mrs Adedeji Adesola, the Head Mistress at Genius Nursery/Primary School, Mrs Fagbo and the Principal, Ayo Fasanmi Model College, Mrs Ojo, all gave glory to God for everything and they advised students to be of good behaviour, obey their teachers and face their studies.

The respondents also pledged on behalf of other teachers to be more dedicated to their duties in the new year.

In Ifaki Ekiti, the Head Teacher of CAC Nursery and Primary School, Mrs Owolabi welcomed all pupils and teachers back to school and enjoined them to work hard in the new year.

Some students of the school including Adetunji Precious, Ogunlade Abosede and Abdulaziz Timilehin told Radio Nigeria that they missed school and were happy to be back.

They all promised to be more dedicated to their studies in the new year.

At St. Michael N/Primary School, Ifaki Ekiti, the Head Teacher, Mr Adebayo also thanked God for his protection while commending teachers and students for their impressive turn-out on the first day.

Reports from towns like Iyin, Igede, Aramoko, Ikere, Afao, Iworoko, Ido and Ijero Ekiti indicated that there was impressive turn-out of students and teachers on the first day of resumption after Yuletide.

Also, all the schools visited had their morning devotion after which the teachers supervised pupils and students in cleaning their classrooms and environment.

It is also expected that academic activities will be in full swing later in the week as the first few days will be dedicated to cleaning, clearing and other activities.
