Another dimension was introduced to the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacheaus Adangor, has resigned.
His resignation was communicated in a letter dated November 14, 2023, and addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
He explained that his exit from office was based on personal principles.
According to him, “I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter
“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based on personal principles
Adangor was one of the cabinet members of former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, re-appointed by Fubara.
At the early stage of the crisis in the state, there were rumours that the former Attorney General, perceived as an ally of the now Minister of FCT had been sacked by the governor.
However, that was denied by the state government.
