Mixed reactions have trailed the EKiti State Election Petitions Tribunal judgement which affirmed the election of Biodun Oyebanji as validly elected Governor of the state.
In a reaction Ekiti State Governor Biodun oyebanji said the tribunal judgement confirmed
that his nomination and election was devoid of error and misrepresentation.
Governor Oyebanji urged the SDP Governorship candidate chief Segun oni to join hand with him to develop the state describing the former Governor, Segun Oni as a respectable leader in the state.
The Deputy Governor, chief monisade Afuye in her reaction affirmed that the judgement had further attested to the fact the APC won convincingly in the last election.
Also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe said the judgement was timely saying it has further reposed peoples confidence in democracy.
In his own reaction however, a Chieftain of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Mr Owoseeni Ajayi said the judgement was a charade and could not stand the test of time.
For a member of SDP in the state chief Dele Alayode the party still maintained that the incumbent Governor was not validly nominated to context for as a candidate of APC during the June 18 Governorship poll.
Contributing, a political scientist Professor Ademola Adifase believed that democracy is gradually evolving in Nigeria but cautioned parties to always avoid litigations after election.
Radio Nigeria correspondent has it that there were jubilations by members and supporters of the ruling APC shortly after the verdict of the election petitions tribunal outside the court premises while the situation was also the same at the Governor’s office to celebrate the victory of the state helmsman, Biodun Oyebanji at the tribunal.
