Radio Nigeria Ogo-Ilu FM gets substantive General Manager

The Director General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama has appointed Mr Babatunde Salawudeen as the substantive General Manager, Ogo Ilu FM in Oko Town, Oyo state.

In view of this, the Zonal Director, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal station, Mr Olufemi Fulani has presented the letter of appointment to Mr Salawudeen on behalf of the Director General.

Addressing the workforce, Mr Fulani who congratulated the new General Manager, urged members of staff to team up with Mr Salawudeen to move the station forward.

He charged the members of staff to work aggressively to improve on the revenue drive of the station and also to look on the alternative source of power like solar energy, to ensure smooth transmission.

Mr Fulani equally implored the management of Ogo Ilu FM to introduce more grassroots programmes in order to attract improved listeners.

He however assured all the contract staff that they would be considered first for jobs if the federal government lifted the embargo on employment.

He however commiserated with the staff over the death of the station’s Head of Programmes Department, Mrs Funmilola Ogundiji who was buried in Ibadan last week Saturday.

Responding, the new General Manager of Ogo Ilu FM, Mr Babatunde Salawudeen expressed delight over his choice as GM, with a promise to justify his appointment and he sought the cooperation of the workforce.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, the Head of Engineering Department of Ogo Ilu FM, Mr Olufemi Olakanmi who acted briefly before the appointment of a substantive GM, assured Mr Salawudeen of the staff support.

The Zonal Director had earlier visited the palace of the Oloko of Oko land, Oba Solomon Akinola where he introduced the new General Manager, Mr Babatunde Salawudeen to the Oloko in council and appreciated the community for their regular assistance to Ogo Ilu FM.

In their brief remarks on behalf of the Royal Father who was away from the town, some members of the Oloko in council, including the Araba Awo of Oko, Chief Awogbile Awoniran, the Iya Niso of Oko, Chief Abisoye and Prince Olatunde Oluwole described the establishment of Ogo Ilu FM in Oko as a blessing to the town.

The Zonal Director had on arrival toured the station alongside the Deputy Director of Engineering Services, Mrs Ibiyemi Obadina.

Climax of the visit was the prayer offered by the Zonal Director, Mr Olufemi Fulani against untimely death among the staff of Ogo Ilu FM.
