Some traders at Oja Oba, Ado Ekiti early this morning protested against the alleged closure of their shops beside Okeyinmi Health Center by officials of Ado Ekiti Local Government.
Radio Nigeria Progress FM, who went to the market, gathered that the traders including, Ajayi David, Ojo Kemisola and Alice Olajuyigbe said that staff of Ado Ekiti Council came to their shops last Friday asking them to pay their annual due but explained that they could not afford it now, and urged government to give them more time to gather the money.
The traders also noted that they normally paid their dues towards the end of the year, but the officials demanded the money immediately.
They called on Governor Kayode Fayemi and other concerned authorities to intervene in the matter, so that their shops could be re- opened.
The chairman of Ado Ekiti Local Government, Mrs. Omotunde Fajuyi could not be reached to react to the matter.
