A Controller News with Radio Nigeria Progress FM, Ado Ekiti, Pastor Amos Ogunrinde was on Monday, 8th July, 2024 given a surprise 50th birthday treat by his wife, Mrs Abiola Ogunrinde, at the premises of the Broadcasting House along Iworoko Road, Ado Ekiti.
Mrs Ogunrinde, who is a staff of Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, employed the services of a Saxophonist, drummers and dancers to celebrate her husband.
Similarly, the News and Current Affairs Department of Progress FM held a special Editorial Conference in honour of Pastor Ogunrinde to mark his Birthday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Manager, News and Current Affairs Department, Progress FM, Mr Bunmi Oluwalana thanked God for the life of Pastor Ogunrinde and his wife.
He commended him for his selfless and diligent services, which he said is worthy of emulation.
Also, Manager News, Reverend Bankole Oladeji eulogized Pastor Ogunrinde over his dedication and commitment to Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and most especially, Progress FM.
Rev Oladeji described him as a man who knows his onion in the world of journalism.
Similarly, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Babatuyi and immediate past Chairperson of NAWOJ in the state, Mrs Fatima Bello, spoke glowingly about Pastor Ogunrinde’s qualities and selfless services to journalism and the people around him.
Each member of the News and Current Affairs Department had the opportunity of saying one thing or the other about him.
There were messages of goodwill from a neighbour to the Ogunrindes at their Afao Road residence, Mr Dare Medale, as well as one of their Church members, Deaconess Tolulope Ayodele.
A younger Sister to Pastor Ogunrinde, who is also a staff of Progress FM, Mrs Funke Jeremiah, thanked God for the personality of her brother and spoke about his sterling qualities.
On her part, wife of the celebrant, Mrs Abiola Ogunrinde who organised the surprise birthday treat, paid tribute to her husband and went down memory lane on events of the past and the reasons for putting together a surprise package for her husband.
In his response, the celebrant, Pastor Amos Sunday Ogunrinde expressed surprise over the event and thanked God, his wife, the Newsroom of Progress FM and all well wishers who made the day possible.
A Minister of God, Ambassador Lawrence Oyewole spoke briefly about the Ogunrindes and he delivered a power-packed prayer to round off the celebration.
