President Bola Tinubu has suspended all Social Investment Programmes handled by the National Social Investment Programmes Agency.
The Director Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen stated this through a statement in Abuja.
Imohiosen said the decision of the President was based on the on-going investigation into activities of the agency.
Four Programmes are directly affected by the directive including the School Feeding Programme, N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, all of which are now on hold for an initial period of six weeks.
The statement says President Tinubu was worried over lapses and improprieties surrounding payments to the programmes’ beneficiaries.
In addition to the suspension of the agency’s activities, a Ministerial panel has also been constituted to conduct a thorough review of the agency’s operations.
