Police Arraign Notorious cultist in court on nine counts

A wanted cultist in Osun State, Hammed Rasheed, 29, popularly known as Oko-Ilu was today arraigned by the Police before the Chief Magistrate Olufemi Ayilara of the Osogbo Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

The suspected cultist was charged with nine counts bordering on murder, unlawfully killing two persons, disruption of public peace, cultism and others.

He was charged with the death of Hassan Adedeji, one Idowu (A.K.A Delta) and the shooting of one Inspector Gbenga Eke.

The charge sheet brought to court by the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun was not read as the Magistrate did not take Oko-Ilu’s plea.

The Magistrate, Ayilara remanded the suspected cultist in Ilesa Correctional facility and adjourned the case till October 7.

The Chief Magistrate further ordered that the duplicate case file should be forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

Oko-Ilu who was accused of terrorising Ede community and its environment was arrested in Osogbo in the wee hours of Saturday.

He was arrested in an operation conducted by Police in collaboration with men of the Oodua People’s Congress.

Rasheed, a welder by vocation, was being trailed by the security agents for allegedly causing the death of many people in Ede community.
