The chairman of the board of trustees of the people democratic party PDP Senator walid jubrin has resigned.
He resigned at the BOT meeting as part of moves for the search for peace in the party which has been divided along north and south after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
Former senate President, Adolphus wagbara has taken over as acting chairman of the BOT.
Other positions are to be filled subsequently.
But many party members are saying the resignation of of the BOT chairman was not enough to assuage the feelings of the southern leaders of the party led by rivers state Governor Mr nyesome Wike, who are insisting on taking the post of national Chairman which is currently being occupied by a northerner Dr. Iyorchia Ayu from benue state.
Reports say that some groups are protesting at the partys headquarters, chanting “ayu must go”, “ayu must stay ” slogans.
