Education stakeholders in Ekiti State have lamented the alleged poor conduct of the 2023/2024 placement examination into Junior Secondary Schools by the organisers.
According to some parents and concerned teachers in separate interviews with Progress FM, there were reports of many challenges that hindered the smooth conduct of the examination in Ekiti State including the late arrival of officers of the Ministry of Education to the examination centres.
Progress FM correspondent reported from all examination centres as both pupils and teachers were compelled to wait for about five hours before the arrival of the officials
The late arrival of the examination officials directly affected the time scheduled for each of the three papers written by the pupils
A respondent, Mr Adesegun Fasanmi, who is a parent of one of the pupils wondered how the pupils could cope with the time pressure of the three papers within 4 hours.
Another respondent, a head teacher of a private school, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed dismay over some errors noted in the social studies and mathematics papers.
Also contributing, Mrs Biodun expressed concern that the pupils might be affected by the alleged poor conduct of the examination.
All the respondents however called for an improvement during the second part of the examination scheduled for Wednesday the 3rd of July, when English and Basic Science papers would be conducted.
All efforts to get the reaction of the State Commissioner for Education, Dr Bimpe Aderiye proved abortive as her phone line was not reachable.
