As part of measures towards cushioning the effect of prevailing economic hardship, Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji has distributed one hundred bags of Rice to Ekiti State Widows Association.
Performing the ceremony at her office in Ado Ekiti, Dr Oyebanji said the present administration in the state was passionate about the Widows and the indigents hence the need to reach out to them and create impact through various means that could ameliorate their sufferings.
The Governor’s wife said her pet Project known as WAOH had encapsulated similar ideas targeted for complementing state government programmes in the area of touching the lives of the downtrodden.
Dr Oyebanji who expressed the believe that giving to the poor remained an essential means of doing God’s will, use the opportunity to remind the Widow’s group of her pet project that was in pipeline saying that such would go a long way in benefiting them.
“The WAOH pet project would be unveiled when this present government is one year in office, by then we shall be able to empower the Widows in their various businesses. It will be in batches as those who did not have any means of survival would be first to be considered while the previleged widows would later take their turns.
“The bags of Rice are collected from those being distributed by state government as palliative measures. It is important that the Widows are captured in the gesture, that was why we have decided not to spare any effort to make sure that the bags of Rice were collected”she said.
The First Lady therefore sought the support of the beneficiaries of the gesture for government in the area of prayer so that all the proposed developmental agenda would be actualised to the benefits of the entire citizens.
Dr Oyebanji however told the Executives of the Widows Association in different Local governments represented, to make sure that the rice touches all members of the group no matter how small, so that there would be no complain from any quarter.
