Oyebanji mourns late APC Leader, Atejioye …..describes him as a dependable political figure

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has described the late All Progressives Congress leader in Ikun Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area, Chief Michael Afolayan Atejioye, as a dependable leader who will be sorely missed by the party.

Governor Oyebanji gave the commendation during a sympathy visit to the deceased’s family at his Ikun Ekiti country-home.

The Governor was received by the deceased’s daughter, Mrs Abimbola Atejioye Emmanuel, his siblings and other family members.

The deceased politician and retired school administrator, died on March 1, 2026, at the age of 95.

Addressing the family members and sympathisers, Oyebanji, represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, branded the late politician as a honest, resourceful and reliable icon, who promoted the ideal of progressive politics in Moba and environs during his lifetime.

The Governor added that the family, community and the entire Moba Local Government will miss Atejioye’s unparalleled philanthropic gesture and good sense of representation at the party level and in matters that could bring development to his people.

Oyebanji remembered with nostalgic feelings, how Chief Atejioye always brought issues that affected Moba to the front burner, so that poverty, neglect, unemployment and other negative social indices affecting the people could be alleviated drastically.

He saluted the deceased for living a sacrificial life of a Christian by living for God and humanity.

The governor said he was impressed that the departed patriarch etched his name in the hearts of the people as a disciplined school administrator, strong political figure and reliable community leader.

Oyebanji expressed deep sympathy with the family and urged them to take solace in the fact that the late politician lived a life worthy of respect and emulation.

Responding on behalf of the family, Mrs Abimbola Atejioye Emmanuel , appreciated the Governor for the visit and for commiserating with the family at this moment of trial.

Mrs Emmanuel said she was proud of the life of sacrifice lived by her father and how he served his community with zeal and sincerity.
