Governor Biodun Oyebanji has stressed the need for the people occupying positions of authority in the state government to be accountable and diligent in their responsibilities.
Governor Oyebanji who stated this in Ado Ekiti while meeting with the state’s Auditor General for Local Government, Mrs Iyadunni Oke, described accountability as one of the qualities required of visionary leaders to ensure effective service delivery.
The governor who emphasized the importance of LG to the development of the state, being the closest to the people at the grass roots, called on the auditor general to justify the confidence reposed in her, being the first female to occupy the position in the state.
He pointed out that one of his major visions is to leave a strong institution of good legacy, as he expressed satisfaction that qualities of auditors at both the state and local government levels were top notch.
Mr Oyebanji gave assurance that he would always give the necessary support needed by local governments to deliver effectively and succeed in their constitutional tasks.
Earlier, Mrs Iyadunni Oke, thanked governor Oyebanji for the priority given to LGs and his ingenuity in appointing her as the first female to occupy the position, saying such had validated the governor’s belief in giving merit and opportunity to women to contribute their quotas to the growth of Ekiti.
Mrs Oke who solicited more supports assured the governor that her office would be committed to recording unprecedented success through effective monitoring of finances and budget of LG and LCDAs, perfomamce of personnel as well as ensuring that prompt auditinng and report are carried out among other course of actions.
